How do you get to Saariselka?

We will pick you up from the village upon your transfer from Ivalo Airport (if you are flying) and take you to Chalet Kiisa. Airport shuttle costs approximately €30 return pp and runs after every flight bringing you to the centre of Saariselka.
From London by Air
There are very good flight connections from London Heathrow (LHW) to Ivalo (IVL) (30 minutes from Chalet Kiisa) via Helsinki.
At time of writing you can fly with Finnair (www.finnair.com) for £250 from London to Ivalo. The pleasant flight from London to Helsinki is normally about 2.5 hours and the flight from Helsinki to Lapland 1 hour. You can also book via British Airways which code shares the Helsinki-Ivalo flights with Finnair (www.ba.com).
Should you wish a stopover in Helsinki (a beautiful capital city and worthy of a look) you can fly to Helsinki with various low cost airlines (www.easyjet.com, www.blue1.com, www.airbaltic.com, www.flysas.com) from where you can pick up a Finnair flight to Ivalo.
From Helsinki by Air
At time of writing, Finnair are the only airline to fly from Helsinki to Ivalo for approximately €190 return.

Saariselka is about a 850 km from central southern Finland (9 hours drive)
From London by Air to Tampere and then Self Drive
This option maybe for the more adventurous and where there are 3 or more travelling together in a group.
You can fly very cheaply to a town in southern Finland called Tampere with Ryan Air (www.ryanair.com ) from London Stansted. From here you can rent a car and drive the 800 kilometres to Saariselka (with perhaps a stopover in a roadside hotel) Car hire plus fuel for 8 days: around £350? (Please note that Finnish winter driving conditions can be very snowy and dangerous although all cars come equipped with winter snow tyres so its not too hard.)
