A part of the story so far…

ree

How we got here… In 2010 we sat at a table talking and drinking coffee, in that space we found an invitation and story was unfolding that led us to respond with childlike faith to our Father’s heart.  We didn’t look at ourselves as ‘missionaries’, we didn’t imagine we would journey to occupy the lands we have, we didn’t think of Finland, yet our yielded hearts unto God has moved us, led and surprised us. This is the adventure of faith and surrendered hearts. There is surprise as the Spirit moves.  He gave us the commission to ‘go’ and be ambassadors of His hope, to be outrageous in love and to be present with His people. God was writing a story on our hearts of hospitality that heals, invites and affirms identity and belonging. A story that reveals the wildness and wonders of His kingdom and its realms of infinite hope that shifts culture. He painted a picture to us of a people who were journeying into the full and glorious freedom of sonship, a people who would learn to live from their hearts, dream and hope wildly, create and celebrate life as a family, a people of passion and in pursuit of the more of God. A family that chose love and belonging as a language, a culture and currency, translating heavens language on earth. A people whose lives of worship would be transformational, attractive and impacting to communities.  We have been intentional in all we do, how we live and the decisions we make since,  we choose His story. Even as it has led us upon paths of mystery. We live fully convinced in His perfect leadership to turn pages and to write, from season to season, chapter to chapter. He gave us a handful of seeds back then, and we have been sowing and nurturing them since. And as we have sown God has given us more supply, because He resources us in our commissions.

We began hosting Wild Rest Retreats, gathering in homes, in wild and beautiful places, at tables and around fires. In 2013 we found ourselves in permanent residence in Finland. Gathering in our own home, inviting people to come, taste and see, drawing people into community around the table in feasting, in prayer and worship and exploring life.

In 2015 we turned a page to a season of personal pruning and renewal (often our revival looks like both simultaneously), being stripped back to our hunger, our desires for and in God. A time of leaning in to hear the Father’s heart for legacy. He re rooted us in heaven’s culture.  We knew our fruit bearing for Him would flow from being rooted and established in the culture of God’s Kingdom and that to birth transformational culture, a culture must be manifest in a people. Since this season we have continually come back to the simplicity of being rooted and established in love, explorers of Gods heart, His ways, His kingdom and reality. Keeping things simple in our abiding ensures much fruit. Establishing our lives, the very essence of our being, continually unified with Christ and seated with Him in the Fathers presence. This is the culture we constantly feel challenged to establish in our home and relationships. That we may have substance to feed the hungry. Revival is truly revival when it is manifest in the home, we believe in stewarding the calls and commissions of the Father in our home. The season of stripping back to our foundations has empowered us to carry this conviction well. We sow our seeds to establish a culture where the reality of Gods nature and heart, His intent and desire for His people are the standard, superseding, family and national culture.  A kingdom culture. We are ambassadors, to a King and His Kingdom. We live for Him, from His presence and for His desires. 2 Corinthians 5:20

we set our gaze on what is above.....Colossians 3:2 (NIV)

“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

In 2018 we were on family retreat, and we began to explore the dreams and vision we long carried  for a modern monastic space. We felt the Holy Spirit invite us into faith for a physical space and that we were entering into a Kairos time with Him. Prophetically we grew increasingly aware that we were being called into transition, into something, and possibly somewhere, new. We began a journey with Father, a journey full of faith and unknowns, mystery and sacrifice, yet rich in Him, in hope and closeness, intimate and laden with truth and the weight of His leadership. Within two years and lots of wild wonderings we found ourselves embarking on another epic faith journey across Europe to the Highlands of Scotland. We heard God ask and encourage us to land, to plant, to sow and grow many of the expressions we have been incubating for many many years. Inviting God to write new pages and lead us in new expressions with the same heart.

Then suddenly, a suddenly to us, Covid hit. Leaving us disconnected and confused. We had moved everything, invested everything to be shut down. We questioned the narrative, was this our story, did we get it wrong? Yet every time we went to the Father with our questioning we only heard His pleasure. “I am so pleased with this offering, let it all be worship.” In the realm of mystery we have two choices, to make our own theology to fit what we don’t understand. Or to lean into the mystery knowing the nature, heart, ways of God are unchanging.  Over the years we have had many opportunities to learn how to embrace and navigate mystery, here we were again. Our hearts unrelenting in the desire to bring Him glory, our lives remaining an offering, our prayer undistorted, ‘have your way.’ There was chaos around us and the narrative seemed a mess and yet we had clear peace in Him. If our lives are to be worship then it matters most in mystery.

We sat on a beach in the Highlands of Scotland, unsure of what to do and where to go, we needed a word, a ‘rhema’ word, things were physically shutting down around us, everything we had begun to develop, nurture and build was closed. But God hadn’t stopped telling our story, He sent a word and we knew He was inviting us to return to Finland. With a myriad of emotions and questions we knew that after two years we were to ‘go back, return,’ and that Gods promise of power and sovereignty would clothe us despite our confusions.

Unable to explain the story, make sense of the narrative for others, or ourselves at times, we embraced mystery and began to prepare to return. If our lives are unto obedience and worship, then it was, is, all worth it. Every page of confusion, loss and mystery. We learn to give God what He is worthy of, our devotion, our yes, our lives.

The reality was, is, God never changed the story, He didn’t change His mind, God wasn’t done with the dreams we carried, indeed we have found over the years it is less about the ‘dream’ but that we have become His dream, and our lives are telling that story. We don’t own the outcomes, but trust the Author. Revelation does not always come after our obedience or as we respond, but the Revealer of Truth is faithful to be constant in our story. We spent time, years, having to navigate challenges and transitions as we journeyed ‘back’, so much so we began to see were not actually going ‘back’ but advancing forward, the old things passed away because God makes all things new. What was, was being fashioned anew for us, we were in a new season.

God is so gentle in how He eternally invites us to posses our promised lands, to rise, and to sow. There has never been a season in our story where God has not asked us to sow, to rise, has not asked us ‘what is in our hands?’. There has been seasons of fallow and pruning, but they coexist with sowing, reaping and investing in faith to what He has purposed us to.

We began to regather, the table was out of action and so to the virtual room of zoom! We purposefully took what we knew we were called to do, invite, and began again. Regathering and restoring people to community, rebuilding connection and cultivating space for the pursuit of God, His word, presence and power to transform and awaken. We began to build culture again, it wasn’t in the form we had ever imagined or dreamed but we saw God was doing something, He is Faithful, weaving golden threads in surprising places and drawing a people, a scattered community together. People from all over Europe and the USA gathering in virtual rooms.

In 2023 we launched The Oil Store Gathering, with one idea in our hearts, we want to create a space where we can gather with others in the presence of God. Connection with others, connection with God. A ‘space’ for people of hunger and thirst to buy oil and also to pour it lavishly out upon Jesus through their lives.

Following this we expanded our heart to see the Kingdom impact the marketplace, business and creative expression, launching new cohorts in WithBread Ventures. We are incredibly blessed so see Holy Spirit breathe, inspire and knit us together in glorious expressions of His Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven, His will manifesting with authority.

In 2025 again on retreat God stepped into our comfort and asked us to step out. He proclaimed a new era of promise and possibility, where old rhythms and meals would no longer satisfy, He was doing anew thing. He invited us to perceive it, to seek out and ask for new vision, for renewal of vision. He is Resurrection and Life and there were areas of our lives we had let slumber, dreams we had put to the grave, hope we had allowed to decay. But God had appointed this time to revive us, to call us out.

We were in a new chapter of metamorphosis.  God ordained time, time to reveal what had been transforming within us, time to come out of the cocoon. We were, are, entering a Nehemiah season of rebuilding and acceleration.

In June 2025, suddenly and surprisingly, (acceleration) we miraculously acquired the property adjacent to our current home in Finland. In obedience and fuelled by faith we now have the Wild Rest Home.

Suddenly, what we long ago dreamt of is in our hands. It definitely looks different, will be inhabited differently, and is not what we imagined fifteen years ago. But this is to the glory of God, the years, the pages, the story, the creativity, craftsmanship and utter faithfulness of God, Father, Son and Spirit have formed us more and more in them. In Gods’ dreams and desires. As David utters in Psalm 109:4, ‘ we pray until we become prayer itself’. We occupy His words till we become them. Perhaps too we dream with Him and become His dream, it is less about the outcomes but about communion, the union of the journey.

And so…

We enter in, humbly and in wonder, faith filled at every impossibility. Trusting in Gods story and His Faithfulness unfolding, that His leadership will always perfect, throughout the years. His Lordship over our lives, upon each page is our liberation; the glorious freedom of being sons of God. In mystery and in clarity, in valleys and peaks, obedience is the posture of our hearts, because we are fully convinced He is Worthy. Our covenant with God keeps us. He is writing the story, we are His and He has our yes. And our hearts will ever cry ‘what’s next Papa!?’, adventurously expectant in His fathering. Romans 8:15

At the centre of all we dream is  Communion and community

  Acts 2 42-47 & Luke 14: 23

The first commandment, to love God with all we are and have, and the second to love others creates a culture of heaven on earth. A culture of thanksgiving, hope, intimacy, expectancy, creativity, unity and belonging that will transform families and communities. We will never be a place before we are a people, that is why we build family, and have a vision for home. We live and breathe to know Him and make Him known in how we love and live our lives. The kingdom is where people are known and know. We are fashioning and cultivating, rebuilding and you are invited.

We dream to establish a community in which the fullness of God’s presence is constantly welcomed and manifest, marking our lives as we live in awe and wonder of Him, who is worthy. We believe that the presence of God is transformational, that there is power in His love, and so Communion with Him is our highest value.

We are building a place of gathering, a community, that ministers to the heart of God, receives His love, and reveal it. We are in pursuit of the more of God, to know and be known in His presence, to hear His voice and decreeing that into reality on earth. Our prayer is ‘Holy Spirit Come’, and we know He is faithful to inhabit our longings.
